Coyle High School’s Class of 2024 became the first Logan County school to hold graduation ceremonies as 24 seniors earned their diplomas Friday night, May 10. This class will be forever connected to COVID-19 as they were freshmen when the pandemic hit and had to navigate through two years of rules and safety guidelines not normally attributed to everyday school life.

JROTC Annual Awards

The Guthrie JROTC program held their annual awards ceremony on May 1st, where they recognized students for their individual and collective achievements. The evening started with recognition of the best class, based on their performance in a variety of events and activities.

Guthrie Rotary Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Jillian Minter. She is the daughter of William and Laura Minter. Jillian has been active in Lady Jays Tennis and Basketball, the Heritage Club and Link Crew. She placed 5th in 5A 2 doubles her Junior year and 4th in 5A 1 doubles last weekend at the State Tennis tournament. After graduation, Jillian will attend I.M.T.C. and get a her massage therapy certificate. Harold Flasch Turns 100 Years Old

Harold Flasch, life-long resident of Coyle, OK will turn 100 on May 22, 2024. There will be a reception on Saturday, May 11 in Guthrie, OK, at Berk Hall, Zion Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. followed by board games at 2:30 p.m. and those who like to play Pinochle (a card game). Friends and family are welcome to attend and bring along their favorite game.

DAR Presents Good Citizen Awards

The Samuel King Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, OSDAR, recently presented the DAR Good Citizens Award to two area 2024 high school seniors. Honored were Bella Benham, Guthrie High School and Gwen Tignor, Edmond North High School.

Helping Mom relax on Mother's Day

The unconditional love and undying patience moms exhibit as they raise their children is worthy of more than just a single day of appreciation in May. Moms do a lot for their families, and though that’s something to celebrate every day, Mother’s Day merits upping the ante in regard to showing Mom how much she’s loved and appreciated.
